The Inauguration of the Online Training Courses on Human Resource Management (HRM) and Parcel and Logistics Management (PLM)

The inauguration of the online training courses on the Human Resource Management (HRM) and the Parcel and Logistics Management (PLM) were conducted on 25 April 2022 at 09.30 hrs. (Bangkok time). The inauguration was presided over by Mr. LIN Hongliang, the Secretary General of APPU. Ms. Kwanjai Kajornwutthideth, Manager Administration & APPU Affairs, Ms. YU Yan – PLM Course Director, and Ms. Padmaghanda Mishra – HRM Course Director also participated in the function.  These two courses will be running from 25 April to 20 May 2022.

The HRM Course has been attended by 8 participants from 7 countries namely China, Nauru, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Solomon Islands and Thailand.  In the meanwhile, the PLM has been attended by 7 participants from 5 countries namely Bhutan, Nauru, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Tonga.

The HRM course topics cover postal business today and HR challenges; HR roles and deliverables, HR vision and competencies for HR Professionals in Posts; strategic HR: turning business goals to HR priorities; HR best practices in staffing, training and development, performance management and motivation, organizational design; Employee engagement; measuring HR effectiveness and action planning for effective HRM; case studies of other postal organizations; leadership challenges, expectations and competencies for postal managers; strategic human resource management – human resources investment considerations & HR policies vis a vis other policy areas; and leadership and change management.

Additionally, the participants of the HRM course will have an opportunity to attend a special program on “Strategic Human Resource Management” from 2 to 6 May 2022.  This program is built on the success of similar programs in the previous years, taking into account the best practices on HR and leadership.

Whereas the PLM’s contents are design: – to provide knowledge and understanding of how postal operators are utilizing the potential of technology, big data and the digital transformation; to refine the strategy and get up to speed on the latest developments in regulation to take advantage of new opportunities in cross-border trade and find out how postal operators are adapting networks built for letter delivery to meet the demands of increasing parcel volumes; to share how “hands-free” technology are increasing productivity in the warehouse and how an urban shift is moving fulfilment centers closer to the final destination; to provide insights into the existing and potential role of postal operators in e-commerce; and to share the case study of many designated operators and private logistics service providers.

Despite gaining the knowledge and experience from the course, the PLM participants will be given a chance to attend the special one-week program on “Last Mile Delivery and Fulfillment”, which will be held from 2 to 6 May 2022.
